BATMAN

When you ask someone to talk about his work, you are asking him to reveal a secret part of himself.  The inspiration for this series came from Batman, a creature who emerges from his dark cave to share goodness and light.  I wanted to use Batman's shape, but instead of creating dark, somber pieces, I wanted them to be bright.  Some of the pieces are made with clear glass, but most of the pieces were made with canes that are particularly rich in bright colors.  These colors and ideas came to me in the dark of night, as if I were in a dream.  I was inspired to make pieces that are resplendent on their own, yet when lit, cast shadows.  In this way, I imaged pieces that allow the viewer to see both the reality and fantasy of Batman' s world
